

Signature Programs

Art and Innovation Lab
The Culver City Unified School District’s Art and Innovation Lab (CCAIL) develops the
creative and visual skills of students in grades TK-5. The program guides students through
hands-on visual art explorations, engineering design challenges, and design thinking projects.
In the process, students develop a sensitivity to design, sense of personal agency, and
visual communication skills.

Front and Center Theatre Collaborative
Since 2009, The Front & Center Theatre Collaborative has connected schools with professional arts organizations to provide theater arts education for all CCUSD K-12 students. The arts partners: 24th Street Theatre, The Actors’ Gang, Center Theatre Group, Story Pirates, We Tell Stories and Young Storytellers coordinate theater programming across the entire district to best serve students at all grade levels.
Academy of Visual and Performing Arts (AVPA)
Culver City High School’s Academy of Visual & Performing Arts (AVPA) was founded in 1996 through a grant from the state of California with major support from Sony Pictures Entertainment. The program offers after school classes, workshops, and programs in Schools of Theatre (Performance & Live Events), Visual Art, Film, Dance, and Music. Culver City HS also offers regular day classes in the same programs, most of which offer UC/CSU A-G credit. CTE (Career Technical Education) pathways are also offered in Theatre (Performance & Live Events), Film, Dance, and Music Technology.
