District Community Arts Team

The District Community Arts Team (DCAT) is an advisory committee that works to move the goals of the Strategic Arts Plan forward.  Recently, we have focused on recommending culturally relevant field trips and experiences for specific grade levels, college and career ideas, scheduling and course access for art classes and a student survey.  We meet throughout the year as needed and all are welcome to join.  Please email Heather Moses, CCUSD Arts Coordinator at heathermoses@ccusd.org if you have any questions or would like to be added to the committee.

Current Board Policy

The DCAT met in November 2020 to review and revise the district’s last policy, from April 2004. The DCAT included 70+ stakeholders composed of District administration, School Board members, teachers, staff, students, parents and community partners.

Highlights of the policy that resonated with the team

  • Skills in the arts are transferable to students personal, academic and professional endeavors

  • Arts supports students to fully engage in lifelong learning

  • Arts develop creative, expressive, responsive, and engaged citizens

  • The Arts build bridges

  • The Arts connect with Equity and Culturally Responsive curriculum

  • Supporting the expansion of Creative Career Pathways

  • Encouraging arts integration at every grade level and with every subject

  • Arts education is an integral part of the core curriculum.

We celebrate CCUSD for recognizing the critical role of arts in education and adopting the new policy on April 13, 2021.
